Moon Sand-Science

Lil Scientists are exploring their world everyday.  Science is all around us, but talking daily with your children helps bring it alive. So, what about Moon Sand?  Is it science?  Is it sand?  Is it from the moon?  What I wanted to know is can we make it or buy it?  Yes and yes.  We can make it or buy it.  You can buy it at many online or educational stores.  Or, you can make it at a fraction of the cost and turn your fun into science too.  Check out our lil scientists as they begin their day at 8am at PattyKakesKidz.  They're ready to make this into a scienterrific day.

Imagine being 3 years old and seeing this set up the first thing in the morning.  The children walked in, took one look and knew right away that today they were going to be able to show how important they were and how what they did mattered.

Cutting, molding, shaping, exploring and feeling the cool moon sand.  This prompts loads of communication and questions amongst the children.

There were so many tools to be used; spoons, bowls, clamps, wooden dowels, play food, colored wood sticks and their hands, eyes, muscles, and the most important one, their imagination!
Here's a nice group shot where they are all
discussing their findings.
PattyKakesKidz wants you to find the scientist in you!  Have fun.

Ewwww, germies!

With so many things to learn about in our new year, health seemed to be a good way to start.  The kids and I talked about what to do when we sneeze, what are germs, good foods to eat, brushing our teeth and so much more.   Not only were they learning about the topic at hand, but so much more was happening.  Just check out our preschoolers engaging in their learning.
 Our germs are born.
Brushing your teeth makes you healthy too.

Eating healthy is very very important too.  How about Fruit Kabobs made by our preschool kiddos.

Learning can be so much fun.  Make your ideas come alive then stand back and watch the kids run with it.
2013, watch out, here we come!

1..2..3..4..5!

Let the drum roll begin........bum bum bum bum bum........and.........she's....... FIVE!

From diapers and scribbles to designer clothes and being a teacher's helper.  This little gal has grown.  She had her birthday while away on Christmas vacation, but when she came back, it was pumpkin muffins and friends to help celebrate.
Piper, Happy Birthday, we love ya.
One by one, the kids woke from their naps and sleepily asked, "mmmm, what's that yummy smell?"  Little did they know what I was up to; I was baking pumpkin muffins for them while they were nappingWe cleaned up the nap area and went to the island in the kitchen, where they awaited the yummy fun of decorating muffins for Piper's birthday.

Once the muffins were decorated, I shout out, "you know the drill"  All the kids laughed and began singing ♫♫Happy Birthday to Piper♫♫
She just stood their on the kitchen stand, beaming at all of us.
It didn't take long to dig in once the singing was done.  Piper loved it!

Oh, and her wish is......hey, I can't tell ya or it won't come true.
Be assured though, the candle was all blown out.
Happy Birthday to our Friend, Piper!
