Yoga-A Child's Way

With the bustling pace of life, we are all filled with the issues on dealing with stress.  We often think of these as "adult stresses", when in fact, these so-called pressures of life trickle down to our children.   Yoga is a way to provide tranquility, plus physical and spiritual discipline. What a wonderful opportunity to share yoga with the children.  Coming together peacefully and learning to channel their energy in a supportive group atmosphere.  Check out our group in the true form of:
Yoga-A Child's Way.
 Beginning on our mats
 Standing up tall
 Shaking our sillies out
 Criss-Cross Apple Sauce

 In touch with our breathing
with the "Child's Pose"
Lion pose, just before the pounce
(aka, Table Top)
 Dog pose
The real dog is instructing on
how to "look like a dog"
 Return to lion pose
Reach down and touch your toes, don't forget to breath
Neck and shoulder relaxation techniques
 Stretch those arms out
(watch out for the dog LOL)
Now stretch the arms towards the back
 Feet on sides of mats
One hand on mat, now look up
to the sky and balance
 Great job on the balancing
Now, one leg up and one leg back
 On belly just before
we connect hands to back

Here's how it looks from the side
The group reaches their hands in the back
Great pose
Stretch to the right and breath.  Muscles are stretching along your ribs
Now stretch to the left, again breathing
That left pose can be a bit confusing for some, but we eventually get it
Pointing feet forward and finding peace
 Bridging ourselves
Namaste-May peace, peace and more peace follow.

Now, as we wrap up, clean up the mats and I go off into the kitchen to cook some nummy lunch, the kids decide to play "yoga" on their own.  Here are the results:

 Froggy jumps
 Practice Namaste

 Finding peace within
 The Dance Pose
Resulting in another Dance Pose

This will become a natural part of our program here at PattyKakesKidz.
Yoga, providing peace and harmony, one with nature and honoring your children.
Namaste
(to honor true-self in each of us)
